Hey everyone, I have some reveals coming, slow and one by one. The first is that I now have the privilege of being a part of the talented Design Team as a new member on the challenge blog Scrap Africa. What a wonderful opportunity to play with the big girls. There are monthly challenges and great sponsors with prizes for the winners. Below is my submission of this months challenge “Die Cuts” using them in any way and out of any type of media. I had so much fun making my project. I was able to use one of Finnabair’s new stamps that was just released, her stamps are incredible and so fun to work with. For my die’s I used the Tim Holtz oval frame and wings die’s, lots of Lindy’s paints and of course gel medium with Finnabair’s glitters and micro beads. Take a look and I hope you enjoy. Be sure to join in on the fun over at Scrap Africa. See you there!!
What a way to start the year out right with an outstanding adventure with the over the top designers than to be at Prima’s Art Venture in Anaheim. It was my very first “instructional class” ever attended and i could not have asked for anything better. It was truly an extraordinary adventure in scrapbooking and mixed media art. On the billboard of instructors were Alberto Juarez, Frank Garcia, Julie Nutting, Anna Babrowska (Finnabair), Jaimie Dougherty and Trina McClune. Each class was about 3 hours long for 2 solid packed days. When they said we would be receiving “goodie” bags nothing could prepare us for what we received!!! To many to mention and most were products that will be released at the CHA conference and will not hit stores for several weeks. So we were very excited to get first dibs. I have lots of pictures of the fun I had and the friends I made. I hope you enjoy, I know you can’t wait to get your hands on these, and I can’t wait to go next year!!!
I just wanted to share a project I made for a Facebook Group that I belong too called Die Scrappers. They have reached and passed the 500 member mark and to celebrate have kicked off a “Show Me What You Got” challenge contest. I joined the Die Scrappers last year and have really enjoyed being part of their crafty group. My knowledge of the German language is minimal to none, but art seems to be a universal language, right? I have met some wonderful people and some great friendships there that will certainly last a lifetime. So I really wanted to submit something very special for my friends, it doesn’t matter if I win, I just want all of the members and Admin’s to know how very much I appreciate what they have done. They must have done something right to reach over 500 members. So check it out, I’m sure you will love them as much as I do. So here is my entry of appreciation…
I think its lovely and I hope everyone at Die Scrappers thinks so too!
Hello there and Happy New Year. Well lots of things planned for me and hopefully for you all as well. First of all, had a little “glitch” with the new Crafty Artisan Challenge Blog, its not quite up and running yet so I’ll just keep on truckin down this crafty road. I’ve decided to start an online art class this year, 52 weeks of instruction participating in the Lifebook 2015. I love the work, the colors and the way it all makes me feel. “Feed my Soul” I say, Feed my Soul. This will be my Mantra for the year 2015. This is a warm up exercise to get my mojo going. If you think you might feel like checking it out click here. Psst: I think I’m going to get one for a friend to, the course that is…
Ok, next…On Monday morning I will be taking my first trip on a train to Los Angeles for Prima’s Art Venture!!! I’m over the top excited!!! I will be taught by some of the best. Alberto Juarez, Frank Garcia, Julie Nutting, Anna Babrowska FINNABAIR!!!, Jamie Dougherty and Trina McClune. I still cant believe it true!!! pinch pinch. I will be taking my Go Pro Camera, long pole attachment and all the gadgets to get some awesome photo’s and video’s, I’ll be posting here and on my facebook page so you can share in all the festivities.
Ok and one last thing for now. I had to just make something that wasn’t a gift, for a swap or deadline. So here it is. I had made this little burlap wrapped canvas with little pieces of chipboard ephemera and some little metals. It was cute but I was just dieing to gesso it up and do something more. You know what thats like, its nice but it could be better. So, gesso I did, some Lindy’s spays and Prima flowers. What do you think? Better.
Thanks my friends for stopping by, and please feel free to leave me a comment or better yet FOLLOW.
Hello my friends ! Happy Holidays. I cannot believe in just 10 days it will be Christmas. As I get older the years just seem to go faster. Oh well, then I better just enjoy each and every one of them. I wanted to share these little metal embellishments that I made. They are so easy and so beautiful. I just picked out some metals that I like, I get mine at Miriams, The Craft Source. (sorry, I don’t know how to link, lol) and I used some vellum paper and the rosette die cut. Sandwiched the rosette in between the two metals and added a “say it with crystals” from Prima. Wala, instant embellishment. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
A few weeks ago I stumbled across an artist under the name of Finnabair. I believe her name is Anna, and she is from Poland. I was so inspired by her expression with mixed media I just had to give it a try. So try I did, and here are some photos of my start to finish. (I think I’m finished, every time I look at it I want to add something more) I’m not quite sure why it scared me to start, maybe it was this 12 x 12 canvas staring back at me needing some creative attention. So here you go, I really had fun with this one and I cannot wait to do another, maybe not as big though. Anyway I hope you like it, I do.
I actually made a “tag” first using some of her technique’s that I learned from watching a Prima tutorial with Anna on a live web cast. Since that webcast all I could think about was “mixed media” so I made the tag and posted it on Finnabair Facebook Page and you know what? She actually “liked” it. I guess that was enough of a push to go ahead and try a canvas.
I have a friend that I met in a Facebook Group called the Craft Hole, her name is Claire and she lives in the UK. She is very talented as well and her work with mixed media is awesome. She has been trying to get me to try it and although she hasn’t seen my work yet, I think she will be pleased. You can see her work on her website CK Creations.
