What a way to start the year out right with an outstanding adventure with the over the top designers than to be at Prima’s Art Venture in Anaheim. It was my very first “instructional class” ever attended and i could not have asked for anything better. It was truly an extraordinary adventure in scrapbooking and mixed media art. On the billboard of instructors were Alberto Juarez, Frank Garcia, Julie Nutting, Anna Babrowska (Finnabair), Jaimie Dougherty and Trina McClune. Each class was about 3 hours long for 2 solid packed days. When they said we would be receiving “goodie” bags nothing could prepare us for what we received!!! To many to mention and most were products that will be released at the CHA conference and will not hit stores for several weeks. So we were very excited to get first dibs. I have lots of pictures of the fun I had and the friends I made. I hope you enjoy, I know you can’t wait to get your hands on these, and I can’t wait to go next year!!!
I just wanted to share a project I made for a Facebook Group that I belong too called Die Scrappers. They have reached and passed the 500 member mark and to celebrate have kicked off a “Show Me What You Got” challenge contest. I joined the Die Scrappers last year and have really enjoyed being part of their crafty group. My knowledge of the German language is minimal to none, but art seems to be a universal language, right? I have met some wonderful people and some great friendships there that will certainly last a lifetime. So I really wanted to submit something very special for my friends, it doesn’t matter if I win, I just want all of the members and Admin’s to know how very much I appreciate what they have done. They must have done something right to reach over 500 members. So check it out, I’m sure you will love them as much as I do. So here is my entry of appreciation…
I think its lovely and I hope everyone at Die Scrappers thinks so too!
Well here I am posting my last post of the year, and oh what a year it was. I started this blog, met great new friends, and learned so much from all of you. I am indeed feeling very happy inside. This next year is sure to be fantastic. I mentioned in another blog that I was now part of a Design Team, which goes live January 1st. OMG I really can’t quite believe it yet, but its for real. So I hope you will follow along with me this year here on my blog and on Crafty Artisan Challenge Blog and share with us the monthly challenges and prizes we will have to offer. We can all learn together. Its going to be a great year!!! Here is a sneak peak of my January submission to Crafty Artisan...http://craftyartisans.blogspot.co.uk/
Hello my friends ! Happy Holidays. I cannot believe in just 10 days it will be Christmas. As I get older the years just seem to go faster. Oh well, then I better just enjoy each and every one of them. I wanted to share these little metal embellishments that I made. They are so easy and so beautiful. I just picked out some metals that I like, I get mine at Miriams, The Craft Source. (sorry, I don’t know how to link, lol) and I used some vellum paper and the rosette die cut. Sandwiched the rosette in between the two metals and added a “say it with crystals” from Prima. Wala, instant embellishment. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
Morning all!! Just wanted to post a quickie mini post of some big Christmas tags I made for a swap over at The Craft Hole. I was inspired by one of my lovely bestie Rose in Germany. She sent me a beautiful tag made especially for me. So here you go, thanks Rose! I had such a great time making these!!

and more art journaling
As I was wandering around our internet highway I came across a blog spot called “Scrap Africa” It’s a place where creative people can post their creative talent. I copied this statement from their website when wondering why they were posting a challenge to all people around the world when the website was called Scrap Africa, ” Simply because we want to showcase and celebrate the creative talent that we have in our beautiful land. At the same time we want to share it with the rest of the world and be inspired by others. While our main focus is on scrapbooking in Southern Africa we hope that our challenges will attract scrappers from different parts of the world”
After reading this and seeing that they had posted a challenge this month with a “vintage” theme I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
I have a beautiful picture of my grandfather, who passed away when I was a baby. His eyes in this picture, although black and white, must have been the most beautiful blue, they seem to shine through the image. I somehow wanted to showcase this image on a vintage canvas. So here are a few pictures and my entry for the Vintage Canvas for Scrap Africa I created in his honor. I hope you like it and feel inspired.
I recently ran across a You Tube Video on cutting up a file folder and making a mini album with all the little tabs. They were so easy to cut out and make, literally 5 minutes, I couldn’t wait to keep going. I was quickly done with the “set up” and could go straight to my paper stash to create a darling little album or card. I used the Forever Green 6×6 paper pad and the Lady Bird 6×6 paper pad, some beautiful flowers and resin pieces all from Prima. They really turned out pretty so I sent a picture to Live with Prima via private message to get their thoughts on my creation, and guess what? Sharon from Prima said “it is gorgeous!!!” please share it on our wall as well. Can you imagine that, coming from them it was a HUGE compliment to my work. So I did, and it received a generous warm welcome with lots of “likes” and “comments” Its really wonderful to get the objective opinion of a respected entity to validate one’s craft. Basically, it feels real good. So here are some photo’s of my little mini’s. Hope you like them to.
These are using the Forever Green Paper, Resin Cherub and Frame made by Prima. Other embellishments from my stash.
These are made with the Lady Bird Paper Stack and Prima Flowers, other embellishments from my stash.
Hope you like it to, please leave any suggestions or idea’s you may have for this blog site, as I’m still trying to make it cute and interesting. Have a great day 🙂
